The Walkabout

Walkabout is a metaphor for stumbling through life. Planes, trains, and automobiles were involved further assisted by bicycles, sailboats, travel trailers, and shoe leather.

These are images and ideas I have come across along the way.

This project has the burden of serving several functions. First, my web skills have become completely obsolete. There are new tools around and I would like to be able to use them with some confidence. This is the perfect place to practice.

Second, I am fed up with FB as a medium for expression. For some reason that particular social media platform is particularly good at making reasonable and caring people look like heartless idiots. If indeed those people are idiots, I don’t think I’m any better off for knowing it. I don’t find the other platforms particularly interesting. Some like Twitter are too shallow, others like Tumbr are too graphical for what I am looking for.

The third major reason is that I want a place to share past and future adventures with a select audience. Family, friends, and anyone who is interested. I’m not going to leave a box of papers and pictures to be found when I’m gone, it’s going to be right here.
